Posted in My Life with tags Moon, Nikon D60, Photography, Ring, Weather on January 29, 2010 by Eric WonI’m sure most of you saw this last night but I saw the ring around the moon for the first time in my life and it was really interesting.
I took some photos of it but my lens wasn’t wide enough that I couldn’t capture the whole thing but here it is.
There’s a video after the pictures explaining why it’s happening.
Interesting stuff. : )

iPhone Photography #2
Posted in My Life with tags Color Correction, Everyday, iPhone, Mill Colour, Photography on January 28, 2010 by Eric WonKorean Animation Character
Posted in Sculptures with tags Animation, Commission, Eric Won, Korea, Sculpture on January 20, 2010 by Eric WonHere’s another sculpting job I did back in Korea.
I don’t remember the character’s name but my client was an animation company called “Enemes” and I don’t know if they still exist.
Anyway, it was a real challenge for me to attach that big and heavy head to a small body and make it stable and stand on its own.
It was also very difficult to make that sunglasses because I couldn’t cast them I had to work with original material which is very fragile. I think I broke it a couple of times and remember getting stressed about it. Good times though.

Driving Everyday (video)
Posted in My Life with tags Driving, Everyday, iPhone, iPhone 3GS, Mustang on January 8, 2010 by Eric WonI shot some videos with my iPhone and edited them together.
My iPhone surprises me with little things everyday and I was really impressed with how reliable it was with handling the big ass video files.
Anyway, this is pretty much what I see everyday while I’m driving.
Hope you guys like the video. I certainly do. (^_^)
District 9 by Neill Blomkamp
Posted in Inspirations with tags Avatar, District 9, Neill Blomkamp, Original, Poster, Sharlto Copley, Short, Trailer on December 28, 2009 by Eric Won
I got a District 9 Bluray and just watched it again.
I love this movie. I think District 9 is one of the best movies in 2009 alongside with Avatar.
I had pretty much no expectations for this movie when I first went to watch it but I was just blown away by its freshness and realistic approach to the material.
I love the idea of creating a mythology for your movie and District 9 did that for me.
I care about the characters and I wanna know more about when the alien ship first arrived and also what’s going to happen after 3 years that the alien promised to come back.
Neill Blomkamp created this fictional world but it’s so realistic and there’s just so much to explore.
If you haven’t seen this movie, then you MUST because it’s a great film.
Check out the trailer.
Check out this short which District 9 was based on and it is also directed by Neill Blomkamp.
You can also see Sharlto Copley who played the lead in the feature version and he has a small part in the short. From what I have heard, he had no acting career before this short film and this guy is freaking amazing.
Avatar drawing with an iPhone.
Posted in My Life with tags Amazing, Avatar, Doodle Buddy, Drawing, Eric Won, iPhone, Neytiri, Process on December 19, 2009 by Eric WonOk, so I watched AVATAR and it was AMAZING!
It was just pure entertainment and a movie just can’t get any better.
I also fell in love with the one of the characters, Neytiri.
On the way home, I seriously considered to make a sculpture for her but then it would be way too much work so I just drew her with an iPhone.
I seriously think I need to get a better app than Doodle Buddy since the app can only do so much for me.
Limited colors and no ZOOMING thus no details!!!
Also when I draw, my iPhone gets really HOT, too!

[UPDATE] Checkmate 12/17/09
Posted in My Films, My Life with tags Checkmate, Eric Won, Tech scout, Union Station on December 17, 2009 by Eric WonSo, my writer, Michael and I went out for tech scout to the Union Station today.
Well, it wasn’t exactly a tech scout because the pre-production hasn’t begun but we wanted to check out the location before we write out the action sequence in the script which is pretty important in the movie.
The station was actually a lot bigger than I thought and gave us some pretty good ideas about how the characters will move in the sequence.
I haven’t done this since “Harvest“, a short film I produced, and it was pretty exciting to just think about the blockings for the actors and other stuff.
I’ve also found some small details here and there while I was checking out the location.
For example, all the workers at the station have these goofy red hats and that actually gave me very good visual ideas for the sequence.
I took lots of photos but most of them are for my reference purposes only but I managed to find some photos that are not so bad.
Check them out guys.

Karl Yune drawing with an iPhone
Posted in My Life with tags Doodle Buddy, Drawing, Eric Won, iPhone, Karl Yune on December 12, 2009 by Eric WonSo it’s been about 2 weeks since I got an iPhone and just discovered this drawing app called “Doodle Buddy”.
Just kind started playing with it and ended up drawing Karl. ![]()
It’s far from done but I’m kind lazy to do more touch ups on it.
My drawing skill has declined so much and I gotta start drawing more often I guess.
It was fun though and just wanted to share with you guys.

This is the process.
